Privacy policy

Welcome to imprint.us, a website and mobile applications operated by Imprint Partners, Inc. Our services allow you to create Imprints—collections of photos, videos, wishes, and toasts, with the help of friends and family, as a meaningful gift to celebrate someone or mark a special occasion.

We’re going to use some shorthand to make this easier to read. When we say “site,” we mean imprint.us, imprintcards.com, our mobile applications, and the services offered through them. When we say “we,” “us,” or “our,” we mean Imprint Partners, Inc. When we say “your content,” we mean any text, photos, videos, songs, gifs, or other material which you add, post, record, upload, or otherwise share on the site. And when we say “terms,” we mean the terms of service.

  1. Our site

    Here’s how the site works: a person, who we call the “champion,” decides to create an Imprint to celebrate another person, the “recipient.” The champion starts an Imprint and may invite others, we call them “collaborators,” to contribute to the Imprint. All involved upload photos, videos, and text, or record video and audio messages to create an Imprint. As an Imprint is being created, all involved can see the content uploaded or recorded by everyone else on the Imprint. The champion is the final editor; they may edit, re-order, or delete anything in the Imprint, for any reason, including your content. The champion and collaborators then present the Imprint to the recipient by email, with a link, or in person, or via a social networking site (SNS). Any of those involved—champion, collaborators, and recipient—can then share the link to the Imprint with others, the “viewers.”

  2. Our privacy philosophy

    We strive to collect the minimum amount of information from you as is necessary—only the information we need to operate and improve the site and to communicate with you.

    We have found that champions, collaborators, and recipients are often excited to discover what others have added, proud of the Imprints they create, and are eager to share them with a broader group of friends and family. So we have designed the application to encourage sharing, because we want as many people as possible to enjoy what’s made and to see what our application offers. But the decision to share or not share the link to an Imprint to viewers beyond those who have participated in creating it is made by the champion, any collaborators, and the recipient.

    As a user, we want you to be recognized for your content, and we want there to be accountability for contributions, so anything you add within the site will be linked to your account.

    Finally, we’re committed to getting this right! We’ll be as transparent as we can about our policies as they change. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome; just email support@imprint.us.

    With this backdrop, here are the details of how we collect, use, and share your information.

  3. How we collect information

    When we say “personal information,” we mean any non-public information that is used or intended to be used to personally identify an individual (e.g., name, address, email address, or telephone number). When we say “anonymous information,” we mean information that is neither used nor intended to be used to personally identify an individual.

    1. Personal information. We collect personal information that you submit to us voluntarily:

      1. in your accounts. When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, and a password. If you elect to sign into your account by using a social networking site (an SNS), we will receive only the information from the SNS that you authorize us to receive from the SNS.

      2. in communications. When you communicate with us through the site, via a chat tool, by sending us an email, or by phone with one of our customer service representatives, we may collect and store any information that is contained in your communications with us. You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but this may limit the quality of your experience.

    2. Anonymous information. As you use the site, certain anonymous information may be passively collected and stored, such as your internet protocol address, browser type, domain names, and access times. We may also use cookies (as defined below) and navigational data like web addresses to gather information regarding the date and time of your visit and the information for which you searched or viewed. “Cookies” are small pieces of information that a website sends to your browser while you are viewing a website. We may use both session cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent cookies. You can change your browser options to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie from the websites you visit. If you do not accept cookies, however, some features of the site may not be available to you and may affect the quality of your experience.

    3. Your content. We will collect and store your content and associate your content with your personal information in our servers. It will also be clear to anyone who has access to the Imprint that you contributed your content.

  4. How we use information

    1. Personal information. We will use your personal information to:

      1. provide you with our site and customer support, including responding to your requests, resolving disputes, troubleshooting problems, and otherwise providing support;

      2. tailor the features, performance, and support of our services to you;

      3. improve the quality of our services;

      4. market our products and services to you and those of third parties we believe may be of interest to you, and;

      5. communicate with you about our services.

      You can opt out of receiving some communications from us by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of some emails, calling us at the number below, or emailing us at support@imprint.us. Please note that even if you unsubscribe, we may still send you service-related communications (e.g., emails related to Imprints made for you or by you).

    2. Anonymous information. We may create anonymous information records from your personal information by excluding information that makes it personally identifiable to you. We may, through our use of cookies, keep you signed into our site, track your session history, and tailor content to you. We may use your anonymous information to analyze usage patterns so that we may enhance the services, improve our internal operations and our software, notify visitors about updates to our services, and improve the efficacy of the content that appears on the site. We may also use your anonymous information (including cookies) to market our products and services to you, both within our services and outside them (e.g., on third-party websites). We may combine such data with some of your personal information, in which case we will treat the anonymous information as personal information.

    3. Your content. We use your content in the same way that we use your personal information (see 4.a above), and may also use samples of content in presentations with investors or potential investors to demonstrate how Imprint is being used.

  5. How we disclose information

    1. Personal information. We may disclose certain personal information:

      1. to third-party vendors who help us provide the site, including our delivery partners;

      2. to third parties to whom you ask us to send personal information;

      3. to a parent company, any subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under a common control, collectively called “affiliates,” in the event we have such affiliates in the future. If we do, we will do our best to ensure that this privacy policy continues to be honored;

      4. to a company that merges with us, acquires us, or purchases our assets, in which case, we will do our best to ensure such company will continue to process your personal information as set forth in this privacy policy; or

      5. if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to resolve disputes, investigate problems, or enforce our terms of service; comply with relevant laws or to respond to requests from law enforcement or other government officials relating to investigations or alleged illegal activity, in which case we can (and you authorize us to) disclose personal information without subpoenas or warrants served on us; or protect and defend our rights or property or the rights and property of you or third parties.

    2. Anonymous information.

      We reserve the right to disclose anonymous information publicly, without restriction, including to third-party vendors who may help us enhance or provide the services, or to third parties.

    3. Your content.

      1. We may disclose your content in the same manner and to the same extent that we can disclose personal information as described in 5.a above. We may also use samples of content in presentations with investors or potential investors to demonstrate how Imprint is being used.

  6. Third-party websites

    Anyone who receives the link to an Imprint will be able to view the content in that Imprint. The champion, recipient, and any collaborators all may choose to share the link initially. Please communicate with the champion, who can email all collaborators through the Imprint application, if you'd like them to request that the link not be shared beyond this initial group. Once viewers outside of the initial group have the link, they too can share it with additional viewers.

    Beyond this, we will only share content if granted permission to do so by an Imprint's champion or recipient. For example, we would ask one of them permission to highlight an Imprint or Imprint's content that might inspire others by featuring it on our blog, in marketing emails, or through other marketing efforts. Please let the champion or recipient of your Imprint know if you do not grant them permission to share your content for those purposes.

    Imprint’s services may be hosted by third-party cloud services and may contain links to other websites that are not owned or controlled by us. We have no control over, do not review, and are not responsible for the privacy policies of or content displayed on other websites or hosting services. When you click on a link to any other website or location, you may leave our site and go to another site and another entity may collect personal information or anonymous information from you. We have no control over, do not review, and cannot be responsible for, these outside websites or their content. Please be aware that the terms of this privacy policy do not apply to these outside websites or to content hosted by third-party services or to any collection of information after you click on links to connect to outside websites.

  7. Information collected by third parties

    We may use third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics and Mixpanel) to collect information about how you use and interact with our services. Third-party analytics services may use cookies to gather information such as the pages you visited, your IP address, a date/time stamp for your visit, and which site referred you to the services. We use these analytics services to help us analyze how people use the services, to improve the services, to customize the content you see based upon your interests, and to email people who are not actively using the services. For more information about these services, please refer to the information made available on their websites.

    The examples above may not be a comprehensive list of such third parties and we reserve the right to change our vendors at any time without notice.

  1. Our relationship with social networking sites

    You may connect your account to other social networks (e.g., Facebook), for the purpose of signing-in, uploading content, or sharing Imprints or associated content. We will work with the SNS’ application programming interface (also known as their API) to allow you to authorize us to access your account on that SNS on your behalf. In order to provide this authorization, you will not provide us with your username or password for the SNS, but you will need to sign in to that SNS directly through our site. Once authorized by you, the SNS will provide us a token that allows the SNS to recognize us when we ask, on your behalf, for access to your account. You will be able to revoke our access to any SNS at any time by amending the appropriate settings from within your account on the applicable SNS, though such revocation may limit the services we are able to provide you. In connection with the services, you may be able to post content to the SNS using your SNS account accessed through the site.

  2. Updating and controlling your personal information

    If you have an account with us, you may update some of your personal information by emailing us at support@imprint.us. You may request deletion of your personal information and/or your content by us, but please note that we may be required (by law or otherwise) to keep this information and not delete it (or to keep this information for a certain period of time, in which case we will comply with your deletion request only after we have fulfilled such requirements). When we delete personal information, it will be deleted from the active database, but may remain in our archives and we may also retain anonymous information about your use of our site. Once we disclose some of your personal information to third parties, we cannot access that personal information any longer and cannot force the deletion or modification of any such information by the parties to whom we have made those disclosures.

  3. Security

    Imprint has put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure your personal information. Among the security measures taken are SSL Technology and, if you have added content, a sign-in process requiring a password and email address. However, such steps do not guarantee that the services are invulnerable to security breaches or immune from viruses, security threats or other vulnerabilities. If you become aware of any loss, theft, or unauthorized use of your password, please contact Imprint’s customer care team, by email at support@imprint.us.

  4. Changes to this privacy policy

    This privacy policy is subject to revision from time to time. We will post any revised version of the privacy policy on this page. If we make any material changes to it, we will also send you notice to the last email address you have provided to us. Continued use of our site following notice of changes will indicate your acknowledgement of the changes and agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of the changes.

  5. Contact us

    If you have questions or concerns about our privacy policy, please contact us by sending an email to support@imprint.us.
